Efter människan (After Man) is based on Leonardo da Vinci’s prophecies and riddles from over 500 years ago. At the same time, it is a vision of the future of the destruction of the body and its sacredness in a landscape where mammoths and drones replace humans. The short film is based on a scene from the 2021 feature film Syndafloden.
Helsinki-based filmmakers Jenni Luhta (née Markkanen, b. 1986) and Lauri Luhta (b. 1980) have lived and worked together since 2015. Their backgrounds are in experimental contemporary art, visual art, performance and media art. The Luhtas’ first feature film was the Swedish-language Syndafloden (2021), followed by the English-language Moses (2024), which had its world premiere in the Tiger Competition at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. They are currently making their first Finnish-language feature film, Isaiah (to be completed in 2026).
