Not not amusement only

“Christo in Turku? was originally created for a competition on the theme of Turku. It was soon also distributed by AV-arkki. It continues my earlier and later exploration of the relationships between power, love, art, and publicity. The concrete framework is the Turku International Sculpture City project implemented in the 1990s, which left its mark on the cityscape with works such as Fibonacci, Carro Celeste, and Posankka. The conversation heard on the soundtrack between "Executive Director Päivi Perhonen" is fictional, but even back then, the city was full of "poor man's Christos." Our video also wraps up a building that, almost thirty years later, became the House of Art.”
Anneli Nygren is a video artist, writer, photographer, and singer-songwriter who lives. Nygren’s videos have been shown in museums, galleries, and festivals since the 1990s. Her work includes fiction, documentaries, animations, and music videos, ranging in length from three to thirty minutes.
“At least, that's what I've been accustomed to writing in introductory texts. However, that length definition has stretched in both directions, as we can see now.”
