Close up of a human eye with blue iris

Iiri Poteri

Eyewitness

Duration:

loop

Language:

English

Screening:

The video sculpture Eyewitness features a smartphone hanging from the ceiling, its screen displaying an unblinking close-up of an eye that constantly watches and observes. Attached to the back of the phone is a broken drone, found on the roof of my father’s house. Today, cameras are everywhere — we watch everything, and we are watched everywhere — but what do we truly see?

Iiri Poteri (b. 1992) is a visual artist drawn to vulnerability, immediacy, and interaction in art. She often appears in her own works, presenting her body, a part of it, or an image of it.
