The video sculpture Eyewitness features a smartphone hanging from the ceiling, its screen displaying an unblinking close-up of an eye that constantly watches and observes. Attached to the back of the phone is a broken drone, found on the roof of my father’s house. Today, cameras are everywhere — we watch everything, and we are watched everywhere — but what do we truly see?
Iiri Poteri (b. 1992) is a visual artist drawn to vulnerability, immediacy, and interaction in art. She often appears in her own works, presenting her body, a part of it, or an image of it. Poteri holds a Master of Fine Arts degree (Academy of Fine Arts, 2021), and her works have been exhibited in both group and solo exhibitions in Finland and internationally.
