„Fuj tajxl!!“ (2021) is a Czech phrase, which expresses disgust, contempt, fright. It also has the form of ‘fuj tajbl’ or ‘fuj tajfl’, conspicuously related to the German ‘der Teufel’ – devil. With these words on your tongue, it is as if you have a sword with which you cut off something foreign that you do not want to identify with. This vision of a devil carries the theme of the crisis of masculinity. Patriarchy is a government of boys. A relationship between the devil and boy is a metaphor for the relationship of patriarchal society to nature and wildness. The devil is a hypnotist, a healer, a guide, a party-maker and a shadow of the social system. Are you afraid? Dance! Tonight the boy will become a man.

Jan Matýsek is a visual artist and set designer. He combines the subjects of transhumanism and corporeality with the psychotherapeutic methods of hypnosis. He is fascinating by the process of transformation. Matýsek graduated from the stage design studio at JAMU in Brno, and completed an internship at Berlin UdK in the Experimental Film studio. He also graduated from the feminist New Media 2 studio at AVU in Prague. Now he works there as an assistant.
